DWLS (Driving With License Suspended) / DWLI (Driving With License Invalid).
If you have received a DWLS/DWLI, then you have been charged with a Class B misdemeanor, meaning that the State can make you do jail time up to 180 days plus a $500 fine.
If you have any previous convictions of the same sort, it will be enhanced to a Class A misdemeanor, with up to 1 year in jail, and up to a $4000 fine.
Additionally, you will receive a surcharge on your license (you will need to pay money to the State of Texas to keep your license). The surcharge amount is $250 per year for 3 years after conviction of DWLS. For DWLI (invalid license) – the surcharge is $100 per year for 3 years.
